We are closely situated to the beautiful Golf Course at Gulf Harbour Country Club. Why not go to the driving range or play a couple of rounds? We can arrange everything from booking a round, to transport, clubs, a cart and even lessons with the local pro.

Hop on a Fullers360 ferry from Gulf Harbour terminal to Auckland city. Go for a wander and lunch; for some great food go to Depot for an afternoon, known for their freshly shucked oysters. Alternatively, visit Amano, an Italian-inspired all day eatery and bakery – they will not disappoint!

What better way to explore your backyard, than to go to New Zealand’s Maritime Museum. Wander around yourself or go on a guided tour, where the guides will bring to life the stories of our voyaging history. Additionally, go for a stroll around the viaduct and take in the beautiful views seen from a variety of restaurants & bars located on the harbour.

4. Explore the East Coast Bays

The East Coast is packed full of stunning bays one after another… The lively Browns Bay is highly recommended for a visit, they have just about everything you want in a little town – quality cafes, restaurants & bars, a lovely beach and of course shops to tempt your wallet.

Similarly, a bit further is Takapuna and Devonport with a more boutique vibe, with plenty of seaside cafes to choose from. The East Coast Bays is a perfect place to get your daily steps in and explore.

If you’re wanting more of a relaxing stay, but still want to get out and about – our Hibiscus Coast movie theatre is a great option. The cinema also has a fully licensed cafe next door – meaning you can enjoy dinner, dessert or a wine before your movie. Options for in cinema dining and takeaway are also available.

Pop a visit to New Zealand’s only indoor snow park. Snowplanet is a great place to enjoy yourself and make some special memories. Whether you just want to have a coffee or lunch at the Snowplanet Restaurant while watching the skiers do their thing or hit the slopes yourself, entertainment is guaranteed.

Visiting Shakespear Regional Park is a must-do when in the Hibiscus Coast. Discover the beautiful panoramic views of the Hauraki Gulf and neighbouring islands such as Tiritiri Matangi and Great Barrier. The perfect place to explore New Zealand’s native bush, beach and farmland all in one. Check out our blog post on what a day can look like at Shakespear Park.

8. Explore Whangaparaoa's Op Shops

Whangaparaoa is the ideal place to go op-shopping. From Hospice, to Salvation Army, St Stephen’s Second Chance Op Shop and Pandora’s Closet Curiosity & Second Hand Shop – all within 1 minute drive of each other.

Pandora’s Op Shop behind the Crows Nest is highly recommended, an interesting boutique-like store with lots of little things to look at. You can always find a hidden gem or a fantastic book for a dollar or two, to take home.

Go for a 30 minute drive up north from Whangaparaoa Lodge and discover one of New Zealand’s historic villages. Puhoi has a Bohemian atmosphere and culture, an interesting change from the Whangaparaoa Peninsula. While you’re here, visit the iconic The Puhoi Pub for a drink or explore the cheese factory at Puhoi Valley. A fantastic day of exploration and adventure.

Thinking about going out for lunch? Grab lunch at the Gulf Harbour Country Club. Their Ferntinental cafe is open to the public and is a great lunch option for a change of scenery. Enjoy your delicious food while watching the busy golfers get ready to tee off or finish their round.

We hope these ideas help to fill in the time and that you enjoy your stay with us.
